The original meaning of this design was hard to convey through translation. This set is named "peaceful", but we can observe some obvious "masculine" or " confident" curvature in this interesting tea set. The reason for this tea set's "toughness" is that in the traditional mind set of Han culture, to really be a gentleman possessing a peaceful state he should be confident enough to be absolutely prepared for the possibility of anything either good or bad. In short, with the proper confidence, a true gentleman can face a difficult situation and resolve it with a peaceful mind. As a result, it is not surprising that we are observing some expression of "masculinity" and "confidence" in this tea set.

To further express the idea of a "gentleman", this tea set expands the imagination further to other items such as the bamboo saucers. In the traditional Han context, bamboo is one of the plants which represents the adequate idea as a "gentleman" - firm, straight, and unafraid of the changing of the seasons. The design of the cups echoes that same idea as well, which makes it looks a little bit similar to a bamboo. However, we think this is a perfect set for everybody who has or embraces the virtues of the "gentleman" (whether you are a man or woman) with its flawless design and practicality.

Ru Yao Kiln celadon technique originated from Henan province. The technique was perfected in the Song Dynasty. The glaze used is unique and contains some small amounts of iron giving the fired glaze a luminescent look to it. Small veins exist after the firing process and with seasoning the veins will grow more prominent and will take on a golden brown color. Ru Yao wares should be cleaned with tea water or spring water and will develop a luster with repeated use.
