As the name suggests, this is a teapot that reflects the beauty found in the natural world by imitating the shape of a melon or or other fruit (瓜果).  In the world of Yi Xing pottery such homages are a very common practice.  Rather than depicting the actual look of a pear, this classical Qing Dynasty Era design took an impressionist approach to interpret the beauty of a pear.  There are, of course, many kinds of pear-like designs found in the form of an Yi Xing teapot.  This "Tall Pear" is one of the designs that we are confident enough to present to our esteemed and discerning Taiwan Sourcing customers!

The designer took a minimalist approach for every detail.  At first glance, this teapot may seem a bit small to some, but once the water is poured in, every teapot connoisseur will be amazed by how "generous" it is since it has a delicately thin body. This "eggshell" character bestow it a very light weight and easy handling. Furthermore, to complete the theme of "pear," the "mortar ratio" of the clay of this teapot was specially designed to have a "pear-like" texture by adding more Zhu Ni sand within, so the result is a complete pear theme from inside out.

The clay "Zhao Zhuang Little Red Mud" is a 100% pure Zhao Zhuang Mountain Zhu Ni ore that has being often referred as "Little Red Mud" (小紅泥) by the local miner, although this is not a "Red Mud," (紅泥) that belongs to the Zi Sha (紫砂) category at all.  Zhu Ni from Zhao Zhuang mountain is more difficult to craft and fire with its fragile ore, that is also why the "Mud to Sand ratio" (沙漿比 / Shā Jiāng Bǐ) was specially designed to allow a higher successful rate. The tea that is brewed in this teapot has the clarity a Zhu Ni should offer, but has a more "forgiving" and "loose/sweet" quality than what you might expect from a Zhu Ni due to its specially blended clay.
