This Ying Xiang, like its cousin "Alluvial Series," "Noon Series," and the famous "Overlord," are now very mature and stable plantation we have been working with in the past two years. This is a easily accessible yet absolutely incredible plantation that produce some of the best Ying Xian material.

This Ying Xian is the perfect tea that proves "higher (elevation) is not always better."  What truly matters is the clean material and mature understanding of processing both of which are embodied in this tea. This Ying Xian is cultivated in Dazuan, a place which only has an elevation of about 350 meters. You will not be able to tell the elevation is that "low" thanks to the mature processing technique and refined drying from charcoal roaster (which is the same on all our other oolongs). The plantation is being properly managed by Mr. Yang and his family, and we are always grateful for their kind collaboration.

The success of "Imperial Magpie" made us decided to push the limit of this material even further this time. What will happen with longer fermentation time? Will it ruin the tea or elevate it? Can longer fermentation enhance the calming effect of tea much stronger? With this tea we realize the tea will still be floral with, however now with a thicker and woody body.

If you have been a big fan of Ying Xian series and GABA tea, please let this "Wooden Magpie" sooth your nerve with its delightful soup. We are honored to be able to deliver it again to your hand.

 Brewing......

Thick and rich tea broth, very satisfying from the get go. I found it had interesting flavors of florality and fermentation that were deep and saturating. It lasts a long time in terms of steeping and on the palate. It's also quite settling on the stomach and relaxing all around for the body.

Ying Xian is now a stable production tea of Taiwan Sourcing. An old dog basically use this tea daily for its easy brewing and comfortable nature. This new version of this season is a further attempt to test out the potential of this particular plantation. The result of this season is again pleasant, but now with a even more affordable price. This is certainly a great year for tea lover.
