It is very hard for us to use word to describe what this tea is. This is the very first tea that we can classified as "new rare" in our collection. So far, all our teas that are in this collection are aged old teas. This tea, along with another tea, will be the very special teas to us at Taiwan Sourcing. We are confident enough to even put our brand in the name of this tea, because this is one of the rarest teas in Taiwan.

Not just in Taiwan, yellow tea is not very well known in the world of tea. For this tea to be perfectly made and have a Taiwanese character, we applied some of the wisdom in oolong processing. The old style "yellow tea" in China does not apply such methods when processing, while this Taiwanese version went through some patient care such as withering and numerous stages of "kill-green" (殺菁) and "de-block" (解塊). Processing this tea requires much more intense and constant labor unlike oolong and green tea, and minor mistake during the repeating process could totally ruin character of this tea.  The extreme care and detail paid during the growing, picking and processing of this tea makes it a truly rare treasure, totally unique in the world of tea!

If you've never tried yellow tea in your tea life, this is a tea that will bring you to the new boundary of tea like a brave new world; if you have already tried yellow tea  before, this tea should be an mind-blowing experience to you. A tea that is as bright as sunshine from inside-out that could bring a new aspect to the old tea island named Taiwan, and thus the name "Solar Isle". Be ready to be awed by it.

Luscious thick and sweet taste... aroma is sweet and floral. Very smooth taste and very lubricating!  Goes about 6 steeps, imparting a lively textured mouth-feel and warm calming cha qi.

Genmaicha-like and slight fermented grain aroma in the preheated gaiwan. Very interesting and enjoyable taste. Medium body and sweetness with undertones of grain and florals. There is a creaminess to it that is kind of like a soft boiled egg or pho broth. I brewed it like I would a Baozhong...Lower temps around 185-95 and really enjoyed it a lot. Super unique and held up well to long steeps.

This was the tea an old dog had never ever tried before, and an old dog is very proud that it went to supervise the production of this tea. Yellow is probably the least known tea type in the world, and now we finally made probably the very first yellow tea for Formosa from the most iconic varietal in Taiwan - the Four Seasons Spring. It is extremely "pleasant" to drink this tea. The character is a little bit similar to some green tea at the beginning, but you can easily notice something is quite different. The aroma and taste of some kind of caramel ginger cookie will emerge inside your mouth and nostril, then eventually fill up your whole body with it, making your body really feels like a kind of big solar power plant.
