The Cuiluan region of Renai County started oolong cultivation in the 1980s.  Nearby to Cui Luan but at a lower altitude was the tea area where the famous Chinese tea company "Ten Ren" acquired their high mountain material in the early days. These tea plantations are not easy to reach since they are located in the very heart of mountains accessible only by long winding steep dirt roads, and thanks to that the region has avoided over-development.

This Cuiluan Jade Oolong from the recent winter delivers a powerful aroma that won't fade even if stored for a few years!  Incredibly thick body, pungent floral cream aroma and powerful qi!

Love the oxidization on this... perfect balance of vegetal and fruity sweetness.  Reminds a bit of a light roast Wu Yi Yan Cha.

Great potency.  It brewed thick and had consistent flavor.  This is a morning tea for me with its obvious strength of taste from the winter high elevation harvest.

As an old dog who loves great oolong, this Cui Luan reminds of those icy dessert I have during summer. It's mellowness and "yam ball" like aroma makes it a very distinctive tea to savor. Each sip is a reminder of why do we drink tea - we drink to enjoy this perfect moment to soothe our busy soul .
