The plantation of "Milk Tree" experienced a very heavy "bug bitten" condition again this winter, so it was processed a bit differently than the spring tea. The date it was being processed was also the day when our "Lily Fairy" was being processed, which made matters quite complicated as we travelled back and forth between two locations several times in a 24 hour period!  Fortunately, both of the teas turned out wonderfully!

Like "Lily Fairy," which we stayed up until 2:30AM, this "Grapefruit Tree' forced us to stay awake very late as well. The tea was "killed green" at around 1:00AM because the severely bitten tea leaves could not stand for anymore waiting. This is quite different from our other oolong teas' processing, but certainly the right call.

.

If our "Solar Isle" and "Ruby Isle" hasn't already changed your concept about Four Seasons Spring (四季春) being a world class varietal, this tea will again convince you like "Milky Tea"! Like we have been emphasizing since a year ago, the matured processing technique will elevate this long overlooked varietal to to a higher status due to its surprising quality and taste. With heavy bug bitten of this season, it delivers  something a bit similar to the "Grapefruit Nectar" we offered from the summer of 2015.

 Savouring.....

Incredibly aromatic dry leaf in the heated tasting vessel. Strong honey sweetness from the bug bites. The flavor is not as strong as the aroma. Yet it has great body and aftertaste. The front end is slightly citrus sweet, which then goes into a happy honey. After a minute or so its complexity is there with interweaving florals and citrus notes. A tasty tea that satisfys, no doubt.
