Caopingtou Natural Farming "God of the Ashes" Tie Guan Yin Oolong Tea - Spring 2022
Taiwan Sourcing

Tie Guan Yin was completely gone from our collection since the disappearance of the Fanbaoshan plantation. Fortunately, some of the tea trees were being transplanted to the land at Caopingtou (owned by Mr. Chang) since the catastrophic event, and the tea trees has been growing over there since 2020. We finally got the harvest after two years of waiting.
This area, Caopingtou, has been introduced multiple times in our collection. This is also the place where our "Hand of Unknown" was planted as well. Mr. Chang thought it would be a good idea to have multiple unique varietals grown around this region for its convenient location. This is why we are also expecting Rougui to be made here in the not so far future.
Back to the Tie Guan Yin itself. If you have tried our "Pacific" series before, you will notice this tea resembles our beloved "Pacific Petal" a lot. The terroir is clean and crisp with the soil at Caopingtou while the elevation is identical to the Fanbaoshan version. Since the old trees at Fanbaoshan were grown wildly the weakest trees were weeded out by natural selection, leaving only the strongest tea trees remaining in the bushes. As a result, the tea trees that were brought back to Caopingtou were selected by nature already. This means our newly made Tie Guan Yin inherits everything that fits our imagination for a perfect Tie Guan Yin, so you may consider this the reincarnation of that Fanboashan TGY. This is "God of the Ashes", the rebirth of that memorable place we will miss forever.
