After a long absence, we finally got a tea that can be commercially considered as a "Shanlin-xi" tea. Da'an is a mountain area located just a five minute drive away from Shanlin-xi (Cypress Forest Stream). If anyone still remembers our very popular "Turquoise Dew", that tea also came from the Da'an region.

We have been trying to find the material that can meet our standards, but the entire Shanlin-xi region has been disappointing. Luckily we met Mr. Luo, a renowned farmer from Zhushan Township who has been working with tea with his whole life. Mr. Luo's passion for tea eventually earned him this wonderful plantation at Da'an. This was an incredible surprise to us because it has been a while since we encountered any land (besides the farms we are currently collaborating with) that has such powerful energy.

This terroir has a strong mineral feeling almost like a fresh waterfall. It leave a crisp feeling in your mouth cup after cup. This tea not only reminded us of "Turquoise Dew," but also another beloved tea "Crystal". We hope our newly discovered "Cobalt Crystal" will deliver you a whole new experience of Qing Xin Oolong.

 Savoring......

For those gullible gaoshan junkies (myself included) who yearn to float in Taiwan’s mountains, at least liquid-ially. This is also for those lovers of tea who are open to evolving beyond beautiful stories, or flavors designed by fertilizers (of which the modern market is flooded). Naturally farmed teas are much more my focus these days, as there are deeper elements of land preservation and “taste”. Teas like this lead our being to respond adaptively and contentedly instead of thirstily.  There is a bit of a “natural” exhaustion I’ve emerged from around chasing teas based on potency and hyper-uniqueness, missing the richness and nourishment of the more humble and indeed more flavorful.  This tea is like a beautiful blooming gem on the palate.  Letting the mind to soar and the body to chill, steep after steep among clouds and good cheer.  Can’t recommend this tea enough haha, it fits perfectly in the missing space for an exquisite high mountain oolong style tea but naturally farmed and artisan processed.

We finally have a tea from this area, and not just a tea, but "the" tea we have been looking for. This land was quite magical to an old dog. The moment we arrived at this secretive land an old dog's body immediately felt he was "recharging" and would like to stay their for his whole life. Having Qing Xin Oolong growing at such a magical place is a bless to every tea lover. Like teas from our Nanshan, Yakou, and Tianhu, this tea "Cobalt Crystal" not only presents a Qing Xin Oolong character properly, but most importantly reflects the wonder of its land thoroughly.
