Longtan Natural Farming Jin Xuan "Dragon Lily" Oolong Tea -Spring 2021Taiwan Sourcing
Mr. Chen, the one who found and managed lots of interesting plantation, found another wonderful plantation that grows Jin Xuan varietal, and again proving that Jin Xuan varietal is more than just being "milky."
Longtan is a lesser known location for tea now despite it being one of the main production regions back in the days of Japanese regime and early days of Republic of China regime. This area used to have hundreds of tea factories to support the exporting tea market of Taiwan. Like most of the fallen tea region today, Longtan's prospect of tea began to collapse in 1970s, eventually became the lingering ghost of Taiwanese tea culture.
Longtan has a very different terroir than anything we tried so far. So far we have collaborated with farmers from Zhushan and Ruifeng area in the creation of Jin Xuan Oolong, now we have Longtan's whole new terroir thanks to Mr. Chen's hard work. We are very excited to have another terroir being sorted into our collection to make the picture of Taiwanese tea further completed.

Very thick brew on first sip. Texture is beautiful and soft, scent is richly stewed fruit. Steep after steep proves flavorful and full of body. A lovely tea.
We have another area of basically wildly grown Jin Xuan now. The reason why we labeled it as "Natural Farming" was because of the fact that it still have people visited quite often to get rid of the weed by hand. This region's material tastes quite "new" or "mysterious" due to unfamiliarity. This region is basically a missing picture from Taiwanese tea market now like Shihmen, so lots of info about it still needs further exploration.
