Yuchi Certified Organic Rhythm 21 Black TeaTaiwan Sourcing
This relatively new varietal was officially published by TRES back in 2008. Known for its unique characteristics but low harvest, the tea became a sought-after item in the black tea market. The Yeh family kept their promise of notifying us when there will be enough of a harvest.
One such opportunity came abruptly on a properly hot day in the summer of 2022. The entire island was burning as we made our way through the midsummer night of Yuchi. The material was glowing in the withering sink with tempting fragrance - we finally had another encounter of this beautiful varietal.
Later on in 2023 winter we developed a new understanding in the processing of black tea, giving the black tea from this year began carrying a distinctive "Oriental Beauty" character by adjusting how the material was rolled and how it was dried. This method beautifully utilized the full potential of this precious cultivar which bears some similarities like small leaf cultivar. The result is a beautifully distintive profile we never created before which we can bring to the future of our black tea production.
The pure taste of mango fruit and lotus petals is something that could only be found on this cultivar, making this a purifying experience for any tea lover who is seeking the finest representation of black tea in the world.

An old dog had lots of sentimental feeling while having this tea brewed. It always seems like a huge challenge when we were trying to improve what was established, but breakthrough or sublimation often happened without any apparent hint until the tea was done and tasted. This was what we witness on this beautifully grown and made Rhythm 21. The overall character of it could only be described as "cleansing."
