Zhushan Certified Organic Jin Xuan "Perfume of Lily" Red Oolong Tea - Winter 2022Taiwan Sourcing
As we successfully made the Jin Xuan varietal from Kanjiao into a red oolong tea on our "Crimson Lily," we realized we could create a red oolong on our favourite Jin Xuan from Zhushan as well, and thus the advent of this "Perfume of Lily."
Home to our "Lily Fairy" tea, the Zhushan Jin Xuan plantation is one of our favorites thanks to it interesting environment and Mr. Chen's dedication. Mr. Chen's small plantation has been free from chemicals since the beginning, so the tea trees are not neatly distributed on the land. Instead, the tea trees grow sporadically among the wild and tall weeds. Many of the Jin Xuan tea trees have died because they could not bear Mr. Chen's semi-wild management, leaving many blank spots in the plantation. However, the still surviving trees are the strongest under this "natural selection," and thus brought us one of the best Jin Xuan materials possible in the market.
Zhushan has lots of oolong tea produced, but red oolong tea was never the option, so we are safe to say this was the the first time red-oolong-tea processing was ever performed on this plantaion. Mr. Chen was excited about this new approach as he never thought of it. Red oolong tea is an entirely new breed to him as this kind of processing is only so common in Taitun area, which is at the southeast of Taiwan.
The black tea rolling concept with the oolong tea concept has turned this material into a magical existence in the tea world. If you have been a big fan of "Perfume of Spring," this tea will deliver even more joy to your tea cup with that uniquely rich and dark taste yet elegant body only Jin Xuan could manage.

This shall be one of the most impressive teas this season. It fully reserves the power of the land even with the relatively weaker land power this season. The texture and aroma was never shown on what we have been creating since the start of our processing journey. This is so far at the moment of writing the peak of our red oolong experience. A ripe plum profile was presented immdiately once the hot water was poured into the mug. Who could believe a Jin Xuan Red Oolong have such performance?
