Lishan Early Spring High Mountain Jade Oolong Tea - Spring 2015

Lishan is synonymous with premium quality high mountain Oolongs.  With an elevation around 2200 meters high, Lishan began it's tea planting culture in 1970s, and eventually became one of the highest tea growing regions in the world.

Due to the freezing environment of Lishan, the temperature between day and night is really extreme, which hardens the tea plants and boosts the levels aroma, taste and complexity in the teas.  During spring and summer these mountains are regularly shrouded in fog and mist, interspersed with periods of bright sun and cobalt blue skies.  As a result of this unique high mountain micro-climate this is arguably the best region in Taiwan for growing complex and aromatic Oolongs.

 Sweet Nectar with a lingering near ineffable astringency (the kind that pleasantly counters the sweetness).  Aroma is fruit and flower, very strong and uplifting.  Pleasant to drink but with noticeable cha qi impact.  Can go 10 rounds easily.  Agree with Simon, in that the experience is difficult to put into words.  Having drank many thousands of teas one is rarely impressed, but this one is a memorable experience for me.

 The mouth feel on this tea really blew me away.  It was akin to experiences with high mountain oolongs I had back in the early aughts...totally enchanting.  It brews 10+ times easily if you make it gongfu style.  The leaves are also a sight to behold...so silky and verdant.     

 As an old dog who have had a lot of different Lishan in the past, this Lishan successfully brought back a wonderful memory about Lishan. An old dog wasn't that impressed at the beginning, as he must admit, but after second time trying it was immediately convinced by its powerful after-sweetness and floral freshness. It feels like the tea liquid was flowing within your mouth like the passed golden time. It is very difficult to describe, but people will know what an old dog is saying once they have this amazing tea.
